bean I believe that the Xi5 will be a good trolling motor for me, just keep in mind the mounting issues that I've mentioned.i made this slide bracket . I'm sure there's other ways to do this, but this is what I came up with.[URL=http://s826.photobucket.com/user/kosmo012/media/Mobile%20Uploads/20150205_092744_zpsid9f4k06.jpg.html][/URL

i like it so much I'm good with it sticking out and dealing with it at the ramp
I think over to the side a little would be great for me brettw. The last thing I want is for it to get ripped off when I load and unload. The only issue I think that I would have is the running of the transducer cable up the shaft of the motor. I know that they have universal sonar but I need my DI on my unit up front for brush piles on Santee Cooper

Can you use the Minnkota bracket on the Xi5? Just looked at the Motorguide bracket it does not say anything about sliding. But you are right crappielimits that would solve that problem just need to find one now.

Man you just keep coming up with stuff looks good man!!!!! Kosmo the thing that I am going to do to solve the issue of the head of the motor to far over the side of the boat. The guy that is going to do the install for me they are a motorguide authorized dealer they all so do service and repair. So I am just going to have them cut the shaft have been told from them as well as motorguide cust service that it will not void you warranty. The motor I have now is only 36" long now and I have had no issues with this shaft being to short. So I will be cutting the 45" shaft down to 36"

I also need my onix transducer mounted on the trolling motor, I'm not going to use the built in 2d transducer.Im going to use a coiled air hose and and mount it to the base of the slide mount.Thats the best that I can come up with for now, but I think I can get by with it mounted this way . it I'll kind of look like the coiled wire that's already used on the Xi5 , for power

My TM hangs over the front of my pontoon but I have a quick release so that it doesnt hit the dock or trailer. I can also leave it at home if we are just going out to ride around and swim.

Yeall, here's another tip for you.
I was just looking at the Xi5 mounted on my slide plate and i was looking to see how it could be mounted without the slide plate. On a triton bass boat, i see no way of mounting the xi5, straight to the bow, without the head and large portion of the shaft sticking out past the side of the bboat. If you to turn it, to keep it from sticking out, then most of the mounting hole locations, on one side would be to far out to use. There still needs to be some form of an extra mounting plate used. (Just some info for ya to keep in mind, if your going to install one) This is a ruff drawing, but will give you an ideal of were it would have to be mounted, to be able to use the hole mounting locations, on the base of the trolling motor. This would put the most of shaft and head of the trolling motor out over the side of the boat.
