On another forum, an onix user was wanting to use his bow mount 360 for di at the front of his boat.
He knows now that the onix is not capable of displaying the 360 in di mold, like is possible with the hummingbird core si units.now others no.
The onix will display 2d,si, and di (from the all in one transducer) along with 360.i prefer the transom mount 360 and the onix transducer mounted at the bow

I agree, the software slows the pinging.this isn't a prosser issue.this is done for the reason you mentioned.so when people say that the onix prosser is slow, I believe this to be false (myth)

On the other side of the coin, after speaking to the engineers most of these problems will be fixed with the upcoming software release. The engineers will be here this Monday and Tuesday so I will report back after we get the update all loaded up and running.

My main fear is that by the time the unit is sorted out the technology will be completely behind everyone else. Garmin just delivered some of the best features ever seen in a single package. I tested the Garmin 1040xs side by side with the Onix and was blown away by how good the Garmin was. Simrad is way good also, and the Gen3 Lowrance touch is about to hit the market with the same features as the NSS Evo2 Simrad. My Evo2 boots in 28 seconds, pinch to zoom works super fast, and the glare/fingerprints problems are not bad at all.

But again, I am looking forward to Monday...hoping everything will be sorted out.[/QUOTE]
Deil, I'm going to respectively disagree with you on the technloony thing..theres nothing that the other companies are offering that's comparable to the onix/360 combo . of corse ,this is only my opinion, but I now have to have the 360 running almost always. (Tell those engineers to send me that update also.ill run and post the results also)

No problem at all brother. The thing is, not many people really use the 360 as much as we do. And without the 360, the rest of the technology is not really that much better. The Garmin Down and Side VU are about the same as the Humminbird, with more range and better resolution. The Simrad CHIRP works much better than the SM3000 and it costs a fraction of the price, plus is included in the head unit.

For people that are fishing lakes only with water below 40feet, the Onix will work just fine. As it stands right now (today), the CHIRP and all the other bugs the unit is showing really hurts the total package. Now ask me on Monday and hopefully I have all kinds of good news and I won't get rid of the Onix. For what I hear the start up delay and other things have been taken care of.

Ok, after reading that I do agree with you (looking at the big picture) but for me , there's nothing else out there..the only thing that would interest me , would be chirp added to the 360.all that other stuff thats being offered by the other brands is meaningless for me, just extra baggage. The 360 is doing what I want.

And I agree with you, big time!!! I went striper fishing yesterday and I didn't get out of the 360 view all day long. I was able to beat the birds when the school changed direction!!

You guys are without question our best Onix/360 beta testers and instructors; many thanks for sharing your thoughts.
I am hoping the expected software update this month will further improve the performance of our Onix/360 set up.
You should make Humminbird Greg pay you both a retainer for doing work that benefit the HB Corp :-)

got a Garmin 840 xs for sale, amazing details, getting a trolling motor
In many ways I hate to sell the Garmin, it is the best I've ever seen.
I saw humps and little holes I had no idea were there before.
As much poop as chirp has been given, it is the way to go eventually.
