    Default humminbird 688 question

Just got this new FF. When I get in water over 15" the depth reads 1.5 and I completely loose the bottom and loose all mark from the top to the bottom. I tried making adjustments nothing that I tried worked. Maybe someone with more experience can tell me what to do to make this thing work. Right now I am ready to put it back in the box and send it back from whence it came.

Assume you mean 15 FOW not 15 inches of water. Check the "range" or depth, some DF's have a feature where you can set a range of depth to monitor and that is all that will show on the screen, say from 5-15 FOW is all you want to see on the DF. Auto range will show from water surface to bottom.

I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.

In shallow water it read correct. Then as the depth got to over 12' everything started to fade until I had a clear screen and the top left corner that shows depth went to 1.5'
