1-HOW FAST SHOULD I GO WITH SI SCANNING.
    ...0.1 - 5.0mph with matching chart speed ... (1.5 - 3mph is best) ...

2- IF RECORDING WITH SI AND ALSO HAVE GPS ON ,CAN I AT HOME WATCH IT FULL SCREEN WITHOUT GPS ON SCREEN ON COMPUTER.
...the unit records the raw data so you will be able to change views and settings just like live scanning on the water ...(the only settings you cannot change when viewing the recording is "Imaging Frequency" and "SI Range" to a value larger than the SI Range was set at during recording)...

3-IF I RECORD IN 2 OR MORE PLACES ,DO IT START WHERE IT LEFT OFF AND NOT ERASE OTHER SPOT.
...I suggest stopping the recording and restart recording at the new area ... This creates separate recordings for each area ...This not only makes the recordings more manageable but it also allows easier keeping up with which recording was made where ...

4-HOW DO I KNOW WHEN 2G CHIP IS FULL.
...cycle to the "Snapshot and Recording" view during the recording process and the loading bar at the bottom right will show the progression of the recording data to the SD Card ...

5- WHAT DO I NEED FOR HOME COMPUTER TO READ IT,
    ...Humviewer is the easiest
    HumViewer

6 IS IT EASY TO MARK WAYPOINTS ON HOME COMPUTER,
When viewing the recording on the unit...mark waypoints during the recording playback just like you were on the water ... Not only on the chart views but also on any of the sonar views ...

When viewing the recording in Humviewer ... The waypoint tool is in the "Utilities" button at the top right of the Humviewer window ...

THANKS ,I JUST WANT TO DO SOME WINTER HOME WORK
I suggest turning off the 83kHz "Beam Select" ... This will cut down on the file size of the recording ... Making it load faster into the Humviewer program ... And allow you get more recordings onto the SD Card ...

That is, unless you want to see the 83kHz 2d data during recording playback ...

...longer recordings do make loading into Humviewer slower ... All that GPS information has to be loaded into the program ... 30 minute recordings are a good balance ...

SO IF I MAKE 2 -30 MINUTE RECORDING ON SAME CHIP ,IS THAT OK OR SHOULD I USE 2 CHIPS
...you can make as many multiple recordings as the SD Card will hold ...(each separate recording will have it's own file-tree assigned by the unit ... Recordings are designated in the "RECORD" folder on the SD Card and labled as "R000x" in that "RECORD" folder ...Where "x" is the sequential recording created on the unit) ...

AND HOW DO U STOP IT AND RECORD SECOND HALF.
...starting the recording must be done from the "Snapshot and Recording" view ...stopping the recording can be done in any Xpress menu view (1 Menu button press to open any Xpress menu)... and it's important to manually "Stop Recording" or the recording will not playback on the unit nor in Humviewer...

ALSO CAN I MARK WP WHILE RECORDING AND NOT LOSE ANY RECORDING OR DO IT STOP RECORDING
...recording is written directly to the SD Card ... Waypoints are written directly to the unit memory ... 2 different functions ... Yes you can mark waypoints while recording but the "history" scroll of the present viewed screen may pause and wait for the GPS data to be written to the unit memory ... This "pause" will most likely not be noticed during playback ...

    BOTTOM,SORRY FOR DUMB QUESTIONS
...if these are dumb questions, then I am dumb also ...because I asked the exact same questions when I started ...

    Default Recording

I'll try to help as much as i can but my knowledge is limited. I'm running a 798 bird and i have just started to record. I am under the impression that the speed of the si recordings should be below 5 or 6 mph. I am using a 16gb sandisk sd card and i believe you can use up to a 32gb for your recordings. These cards are adequate for the recordings or have been for me. If you go to the view of the recording and the snapshot screen, it will tell you how much info is on the card and how much space is left. Also if you use Humviewer you can change the screen color, speed and some other functions as well. Also you can look at your track in Google earth from the Humviewer app.

It makes the playbacks easier if you limit the recordings to 15m or less when you are viewing them on the machine at home. Humviewer will allow you to fast forward easier through longer recordings. The only problem with Humviewer is you are limited to a select few views. You can make changes to settings when playing back recordings on the unit to enhance the views or mark a waypoint of interest that may have been missed while on the water.

HOW DO I GET HUMVIEWER ALSO IF I RECORD IN 15 MIN THEN STOP IT THEN TURN IT BACK ON FOR ANOTHER 15 MIN ,WILL IT PLAY EASIER OR WILL IT ADD ALL THE TIME TOGETHER AND SLOW IT DOWN? OR SHOULD I USE 2 DIFFERENT SD CARDS? ALSO TO RECORD I CAN FIND IT IN THE VIEW WITH MY SNAPSHOT,SO I GUESS YOU RECORD THERE THEN TURN TO SI TO LOOK AT IT THEN TURN BACK TO VIEW WITH SNAPSHOT AND TURN OFF? JUST TRY TO GET ALL RIGHT BEFORE I GO OUT THIS WINTER TO RECORD,I AM SORRY FOR LACK OF KNOWLEDGE ON RECORD,NEVER THOUGHT I WOULD NEED IT AND COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING IN MY MANUAL

...multiple recordings will not slow the unit down because the unit reads the recording data directly from the card ...

OR SHOULD I USE 2 DIFFERENT SD CARDS?
...the only benefit to separate SD Cards might be in keeping track of which recording was made where ... One SD Card is fine ...

ALSO TO RECORD I CAN FIND IT IN THE VIEW WITH MY SNAPSHOT,SO I GUESS YOU RECORD THERE THEN TURN TO SI TO LOOK AT IT THEN TURN BACK TO VIEW WITH SNAPSHOT AND TURN OFF?:
...the recording process must be started from the "Snapshot and Recording" view ... Then you can cycle thru the views (and make settings changes) just as if you were live on the water ... There will be a "Recording" popup window at the top of the display every 5 seconds to indicate that the unit is, in fact "Recoding"...regardless of which recorded view you may be watching at the time ...

The recording process can be stopped from any view ... Press Menu 1 time to open any Xpress menu and "Stop Recording" will be the 1st selection in the Xpress menu ...

dono JUST TRY TO GET ALL RIGHT BEFORE I GO OUT THIS WINTER TO RECORD,I AM SORRY FOR LACK OF KNOWLEDGE ON RECORD,NEVER THOUGHT I WOULD NEED IT AND COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING IN MY MANUAL
