I guess what I am asking is those of you who have an Elite 4x HDI did you just use the stock transducer mounting kit or did you modify it or use something better ?
Thank Jim
I am in the process of installing an Elite 4x HDI on the back of an aluminum boat and was wondering if everyone uses the factory transom mount to install the transducer ? It seams awfully flimsy to me. The mount on the humminbird transducer I had on there held the transducer rock solid, but the transducer on the Lowrance seems to have play in it even with the bolt tightened down pretty good. Thanks for any help you all can provide.

There is this option ...:
Transducer Shield and Saver - See More Fish, Catch More Fish! - TS-HDI-2
It would have to be used with the springback bracket he also makes for transom mount ...:
Transducer Shield and Saver - See More Fish, Catch More Fish! - AP-HDI-2 Armor Plate
I would call Scap before ordering to make sure of the correct part numbers for your unit ...

I have to agree. I switched from a HB to a HDS7 Touch and every time I go to Santee Cooper, which is full of stumps, I cringe. I need to get one of the mounts Rickie mentioned above.

Those plastic mounts are made to "give" in case the transducer strikes something and prevent major damage to it. It will hold but if you want to keep from drilling holes in your boat you can use a Sully mount.
Sulley makes portable transducer mounts...I use one for my aluminum jon boat. It is strong and holds firm to the back of my boat. I like it because it is adjustable to keep from getting the "rooster tail" from the water while moving fast.
