Default AGM battery mounted on side???

I want to go to a 24v I- pilot system in a Bass Tracker Pro Crappie. Ideally, for weight distribution I would like to mount the batteries in the front storage hatch but, I can not find batteries that will fit height wise. I only have 8" .
So...... I was thinking if I bought AGM batteries( Cabelas is where I was looking) I could mount them on their side and I can make them fit then.

    Pros / Cons ????
    Opinions????

If you search around you'll find plenty of applications where AGM's are mounted on the side. The only restriction I can find is that they shouldn't be mounted upside down.
If I ain't fishin, I'm thinking about it!

There are no problems with mounting the AGM batteries on their side. In fact, I think the Cabela's description specifically mentions this (if memory serves me right).

Just make sure whatever brand AGM battery you get ... that is specifically states that it's OK to use as a deep cycle battery.
Case in point : Optima Blue Top model 34M is not recommended for deep cycle use ... but the D27M, D31M, & D34M models are recommended.
