    Default Lowrance X91 problem

Good day all. A couple of months ago I bought a boat with electronics (2 Lowrance X28 and X71 and a Garmin GPS) that supposedly worked. Took his word and turns out wasn’t worth a mud pie – lesson learned YET again!! The GPS seems to work fine. Neither Lowrance functions. Anyway, the Lowrance X91 (not sure how old the unit is) would give me crazy depth readings, like 1700 ft in Henderson a part of the Atchafalaya Basin – not sure what the deepest is in the lake but feel safe saying nowhere near that. I researched and found a procedure to “reset” the unit to factory settings. Did the procedure and now shows constant Zero depth.
My question: Is there anything else that I may be overlooking that’s a simple fix or setting? Don’t think its worth sending off for repair when a new Mark 5X Pro is less than $130….
Not very experienced with this stuff and any suggestions would be greatly appreciatied.
Oh, I haven’t posted picture of the boat yet – waiting on CDC decals. Will hopefully have them soon.

Thanks and have a Great Day!!

Sounds like a bad transducer cable to me. Check the cable from ducer back and any where it makes a bend. With unit on just work up and down cable bending it back and forth. Are the plugs on the 2 Lowrance units the same color? If so swap them and see what happens.

Well cray you are correct. If I had opened up the bow console, I would have discovered that there was NO ducer cable at all. Well I feel like an idiot lolol.
A friend once told me that "if ya gonna be dumb ya gotta be tough". Think I will use use that as my slogan
Thanks so very much for your help.

Not good but at least you know. He may have just been running that unit for the GPS. Or not, who knows. What about the others units?

Well the X28 cables are in tact and does have power at the plug. Unit flashes as if it is lighting up but then goes dark. Not too worried about that one. The ducer cable for the X28 does not fit the X91. Spoke to Navico and found a ducer that will work for sonar but no temp for under 80. Could be worse. Think that should get me thru this year until I can reload my mad money pouch lolol. Just learning to use this stuff anyways - you know the saying "never too old to learn" is true...
Garmen GPS seems to work fine. I will try to test some way points on my next outing.
    Thanks again for helping

Before I spent that much on a transducer on that old a unit I would post on here and see if anyone has one. I gave a HB unit to a guy needing one and then I got a bracket from a member that had a spare. All my leftover stuff is HB or I could send you a transducer.
Put a post on the main forum or on this one and see if anyone has one they are not using. There are a number of models that will work on your unit so you might want to do some checking to see what will work. Hate to see you drop the money on a new one and find out the DF is not working.
    Good luck.

Problem resolved. Can this thread be closed please. I guess this is the proper way to keep boards clean?

No need to close or delete the thread. Someone may need this info later on and may find it by searching.
