Trolling motor is not connected in any way (no transducer, deferent batteries, wireing for each on separate sides of boat)
Started by setting the units to HIGH
next we put ferrit rings on both Ethernet cables at the unit and at the 5port switch
next we disconnected the on board charger from batteries when in use
next we installed a TM choke
I bought the heaviest extention cord I could find and ran to each unit and shrink tape every joint
Now Humminbird says talk to my TM manufacture (Motor Guide) Instead I ordered a MinnKota HA HA I'll show them (I'm in so deep now just as well add the Ilink)
I don't know anything about how the 5 port switch works but would like to try another just to see if it has something to do with it.
But waiting for the new trolling motor hoping it cures the problem

    Good thing i'm Bald
Well, sounds like you should have a really great setup once you get the interference ironed out.......are you sure it's interference and not crosstalk?

If crosstalk is from one FF to another yes im sure. I have tried it with only one FF on at a time and have unhooked all transducers except the 360. Getting interference only when the 360 is connected. When the 360 is connected to only one unit no interference but when you go thru the 5port switch you get it.

One thing I read from another here on CC and mine is the same, when running FF on Max speed no interference but at lower setting I get it. I don't totally understand it but its like when on max you have direct drive, then the excess energy on lower setting is causing the problem. HA you can tell its over my head

When the trolling motor is on its max setting it is getting straight voltage from the battery. When at a slower speed the voltage is getting pulsed to the motor (Pulse Width Modulation or PWM). This pulsing can produce a radio frequency and that is what the additional wiring of the 5-Port Switch and its additional cabling are picking up.

Disconnect the bow unit's xducer...(physically unplug the xducer)...

Go into the network settings and have the bow unit read the transom xducer...

Start the TM on any setting except High...(to make sure the TM is pulsing with the PWM)...

If there is now no interference...the RF is getting into the system thru the bow xducer or it's xducer cable...

You can perform the same test setup unplugging the transom xducer and setting the console unit to read the bow xducer to determine if the RF is getting into the system thru the transom xducer or it's xducer cable...

There are only 5 ways RF (not crosstalk) can get into a sonar system...

    *xducer
    *xducer cable
    *power cable
    *ethernet system
    *directly into the head unit....

    Process of elimination....

The only transducer that gets the RF is the 360. when I unhook it no problem with the other transducers hooked.
BUT I just realized I havnt tried it with the 360 unhooked and still using the 5 port. If I do that and have RF its the 5 port and if its gone its the 360

I heard they are coming out with a new 5 port switch in Febuary. Might want to wait until then.
