    Default Difference between 998c HD SI LED screen and LCD screen


    Hi All
    For those who have laid eyes on both, can you see much of a difference between the two? As I understand it, talking specifically about the 407760-1 and the 408720-1 the only difference is the LED screen on the newer one. Just trying to figure out if I could save myself about $400 bucks. I've not owned SI before so I'm thinking if I got the older model I might be just as happy! Thanks.

    The HD is Much brighter in direct sun light and you can see it very well. I have a 998HD that sits right next to a 858c DI that is not HD and i can tell the difference very easily. To be honest if i had the cash I would go HD but is there is no way to swing the extra $400 bucks I would get the older version........or just wait and they all will go on sale at HUGE discounts later this fall.

    Mark I saved the 400 and put part of it to the heavy duty swing mount. I perfectly happy with mine.

    Thanks Guys. So far, 1 for HD, 3 against. I should have made this a poll! Keep the opinions coming. I am gonna buy one of these 2 units fairly soon. Hey KAG...How do you know there will be huge discounts this fall? Thanks.

    There just seems to be sales that go on where they want to clear the older models out to then sell the newer upgraded ones. If I was to buy a new 1198 HD today like I want.....in a month the price would drop drastically

    I had a regular 898c si and sold it because I could not see the Si and Di screens in the sun. I do have very poor eyesight though.

    Replaced it with a HDS8 whicj I see great in any light.
