    Default conversion confusion???

Straighten me out people. Got some coordinates from a post for Dardanelle brush piles and manually entered them into HB PC. The data was in decimal format so I had to adjust for that when entering by changing the (-) for the longitude to accomodate for the field requirements. Other than that the data remained the same. When I went to Google Earth to view, I find my waypoints are about 50 miles north of Dardanelle. What did I do????

I just spent the last few days doing this with my HDS units
I tried a bunch of sites for converting and liked the one below the best. (it was easiest for me to recheck all my data once entered). I had a few of mine located up on land and then discovered I had an entry error.

    yankee doodler,
Send me the web site where you got those coordinates from and I can take a look at it for you tomorrow morning before class starts. You can pm me or send them via e-mail if you would like.

Hey, Yank ..... try this one : GPS Coordinate Converter, Maps and Info

I had the same problem with some waypoints that I manually entered into my E5DSI .... but, once I realized there were more than ONE set of coords number configurations, and entered them into this converter ... no more problems. Once I changed Decimal Degrees to "GPS", and entered them into my unit ... I took the unit to the lake & found the waypoints to be dead on accurate.

Thanks for replies and thx for the file Greg. Pappy I was doing the same thing. I did convert them and they now appear to be correct. Guess I won't know for sure until I get down on Dardanelle and try em out.
