Default Help decide the Terrova for my boat!

Okay next month, my old All Terrain is coming off the Javelin and going bye bye. Taking it's place shall be a Terrova. Now best two options I've found so far is if I stick with my current 24V I can get a brand spankin new 80lb with I pilot and US2 for $1350. Now that being said the dealer where my dad works and I use to work has a factory reconditioned 101lb with autopilot and no US. They don't tend to sell anything there that commands a 36V system and it's been there a few years and I was offered it for $800, at which point I can throw Ipilot on there and with the extra battery I'm about the same on price. But I'm not sure what to do. More weight but 101# thrust would be awesome. But I also have a year less warranty than with brand new 80# and I won't have US2 which makes me worry about my transducer ending up like the current one, beat to death and barely working. Any thoughts?

Unless you plan on pulling cranks 8/10 hrs a day I'd stay with the 80 more warranty, your US2, one less battery thus less weight and can still pull cranks most of the day. Call Brian at BBG marine and get a quote before you buy a motor.

Unless some kind of 3rd-party warranty is available, you will get 2 years from M-K on a new Terrova. If you go with the 36v and add iPilot (highly recommended), the iP should have its own warranty, even though the TM's has expired. Unless your boat is large and heavy or you fish in rivers with strong current, the 36v is probably overkill. As Cray says, weight (and space) becomes an issue each time you add a battery. Unless you're fishing sizable TMO lakes, two fully-charged deep cycle batteries should pull cranks all day.

Go with your gut and get what you really want! If you buy something just trying to save a few bucks or thinking you may upgrade later....go ahead and get it now!

Well for an update I'll just say the deal was sweetened abit and I'll be getting the 101 Terrova tomorrow. I'd rather have too much than too little and I've had a few days when the current 65lb couldn't do much for me and I'm not sure how much more the 80 would help. Hopefully I can get it on and be on the water saturday morning for muskie to try it out. Found a great price on my 4-bank charger too.
