Nope..
Can you convert an elite 5 DSI to an elite 5? This has got to be the worst money I have spent fishing. Have elite 5 with GPS and it works great. I would use the DSI for an anchor, but its not big enough. Any ideas to make an elite 5 out of this thing?

That's easy
Put the E5DSI on the Personal Classifieds Forum & sell it, then buy a E5 (option B would be to also include the potential for a trade out). Problem solved.
I don't know why you'd want to dumb down a E5DSI & make it a E5 ... since the only major difference in the two seems to be the sonar kHz choice. The E5DSI has 455/800 kHz ... the E5 has 83/200 kHz. Are you sure you've got the E5DSI dialed in correctly, for the waters you fish & the type of fishing you do ?? Or is it that you just don't like the Down Imaging vs the broadband images ??
... cp
I just don't get any results with it. I have tried dial in and still don't get results. I have had unit on and off boat and from front to back. I took it off when I had a fishing trip and didn't use for a long time. I'm now trying it again, but it's off more than on. The screen has lines up&down and does follow the bottom, never showes fish. I have an e5 mounted above it and I like it. I would like to have another for front, but I already have to much money invested. Like I said this thing is the worse money I have spent for fishing.
E5DSI does not have a sonar display. Only dsi
These are HB depictions but they would still apply to show the difference in 2d and DSI...
This depiction shows the 2d conical shaped beams and how they are shown on the unit screen....("cartoon-ish")
This depiction shows the DI thin slice beam and how it is shown on the unit screen...("pic-like")
(the green triangle under the boat is the thin slice DI beam)
