Contour Elite is a fantastic planning tool. I love it for scouting new lakes, and helping me pinpoint productive locations on lakes I'm more familiar with.

Hey KAG I went ahead and bought the Contour Elite program for Texas/Oklahoma and I really like it. It has showed me so much about the lake I fish all the time and a couple more I am going to try sometime. Makes a nice toy on rainy days. Got ahead and get you one. Ferdi aka Fred

Well the program arrived. I loaded it up and have been playing with it quite a bit. I can say so far I really like it for the 3D and fish search features. Was it worth $149.....I hope so and so far I think it will really help in truly understanding the lake I fish. There were several hundred lakes on the program. The red areas are the computer software indicating where I should find Walleye at that given time / pattern. You can export the gps data to your unit for use on the water as well as import water based data into the program to help build a data base

I realize this is an old post, but I am wondering if you can mark waypoints on the contour elite pc software and then upload them to a garmin handheld gps? And vice versa...from gps to contour elite? Basically use the contour elite software as a waypoint management tool which will also visually show your waypoints on a contour map(not google earth). If this won't work is there anything out there that will do such a thing? Thanks.

Probably not as detailed as the Lakemaster, but will do what you want. https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/maps.../prod1404.html You can preview lakes that interest you on their website. The CD loads on your computer and you can view all the US lakes, mark and save waypoints and routes, then load the maps etc onto your device.
