Just wondering what the range of the ipilot controller is? If I'm by myself it would be great if I could use the spot lock instead of having to pull the boat up on the rocks or tied to a crappy dock while I go park the truck. Also the other boater wouldn't have to wait on me to get out of the way.

Try it and let us know. Seriously dude, you might have to go swimming for your boat.RoflRofl I'd drop a marker out in the lake and try it first if I were you.

I could leave my wife in the boat the first time but she doesn't know how to drive the boat so it may as well be empty. Come to think of it if the boat were to float off with her in it...

My buddy uses his remote all the time. He jumps on the dock and off his boat goes. Almost every time someone says hey mister your boat is floating away. It's really funny when he comes back he whistles and calls his boat like a trained dog, gets some strange looks.

Wouldn't it be nice if you could deploy the motor by remote. Just back it in the water, let it slide off the trailer. Deploy the trolling and hit spot lock. After parking your truck just guide it up next to dock. Make it a lot easier launching by yourself. Maybe we should ask Minnkota to put that on wish list.

I saw I guy on Youtube do it. I haven't had the courage to try it yet. Would be easy to do at places that have docks, we have to pull up on ramp here.

I have controlled mine from about 40-45 yards away just testing it out in the yard and it worked without a hitch. However, I think I remember reading somewhere if the remote gets out of range of the TM while spot lock is engaged it will automatically turn spot lock off. I could be dreaming that but I truly thought I read it somewhere but now I can't find it in the manual.

I saw the utube video as well, and have thought about it but not enough to actually try it. Would hate to get run over by a waverunner swimming to recover my boat. LOL

I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.
