    Default Interesting Thread

    I found this today while looking fore some information on a networking question. A Loweance LSS-2 transducer on a HB unit, who'd thunk it?

    Interfacing a HB with the Lowrance LSS-2.

    Interesting that the LSS-2 ducer gave better results with HB than the HB ducer did.

    My kinda stuff. I am not surprised. 800khz is 800khz. Power handling capabilities of the device is what counts most.

    Look here and you can get the idea;

    Rickard's double ducer that he made a couple of years ago was good indication that longer piezo elements would give better images...

    Him being able to make the the new LSS 2 xducer work with his HB unit was confirmation that his tests with the double ducer were correct...(Rickard is an absolute genius... And sonar is just his hobby)....

    It was quite an interesting thread to follow when he was first modifying 2 HB xducers into 1 long double ducer...

    Longer array and narrower beam

    A piezo is a piezo...

    It's the physical length of the element that gives the better image....not the brand...(in this case)..

    Still gotta give Lowrance the credit for stepping outside the industry thinking that a superlong xducer would not be accepted by consumers...

    Lowrance blew that industry excuse out of the water...

    Obviously many folks aren't deterred by the long transducer, but I think I would be. I'm an H/B fan, and if they brought out a super long transducer, I'd have to give careful consideration about the size. Some folks are a little rougher with their equipment! LOL. I think 1 break off at what, $300, and I would be back to a smaller size.
