Default Humminbird PC Download data error

I exported my waypoints from my 788 to sd card..... then tried to put them into HB PC. I keep getting "download data error" even trying 2 different cards, formating cards, and restarting computer. I also deleted waypoints on unit then reinstalled from the card that had the waypoints and that worked on the unit. I don't know what else to do.

    Any ideas?

I would go through the basic troubleshooting. Try a different card reader, then a different sd card. After formatting the card, run a chkdsk on it to check for errors / bad sectors.

What version of Humminbird PC are you using?

Are you using a built in card reader on your computer? Can you try to save anything to that card while its in your computer even a picture or a word file. There could be an issue with the reader and the card.

If you have a card reader that you plug into the computer and you have a high capacity sd card you would want to make sure the card reader has the ability to communicate with a high capacity card

Thx for your reply....I have 3 different sd cards that I have tried, 2 different readers other than the one on my computer. I formatted them all, even formatted unchecking the "quick format" option on my conputer. I updated to the new version (4.3.3) then later I even uninstalled HBPC and reinstalled it . I also have a 798c si that does the same thing with these cards. I have saved the waypoints on cards then deleted the waypoints on both units then reentered the waypoints off of the cards without a hitch. The sd card will not load into HBPC. It gets to 31% everytime then displays the "download error" message.
I have shared waypoints with the other unit in the past when I make changes to one. Also I tried to convert the waypoints with GPSBabel program and the GPSBabel Visualizer on the internet and they came up with an error.
I need someone with a lot more knowledge to help with this. I don't want to loose any wpts. Also how do you back up the wpts. when you get in this predicament?

Thanks for the help like my post above I don't think the problem is the cards or the reader because they all do the same thing and will write on all. Dont know about the "chkdsk" thing never done that unless Unchecking the box next to the "quick format" does it. Not much difference in time with XP but with Win 7 it takes 10X longer.

How many waypoints do you have to load from Humminbird PC to the unit?

I had 1000 +. What I did was to go back to the oldest file that HBPC saved before this issue. I had some new wpts.....I hope I have them all. For the future, I believe my problem came from some waypoints that I converted from Google (kml). Cane Pole on this forum said that sometimes when you convert files from google they leave out a delimiter. He said to put into Easy GPS then save it and it will sometimes fix it. I had already changed mine before I saw this.

    Thanks
