    Default Humminbird 798ci hd problems

Anyone have problems with the side imaging and down imaging screens being dark. Its not completely black but it's close. You can tell that there's images there but to dark to decifer. Gps and 2d sonar work just fine, it just DI an SI. I have a y cable for 2d and si transducer. I replaced the SI transducer with hdsi and still no luck.

Are you adjusting the SI sensitivity as the bottom composition changes....??

1 overall setting of SI sensitivity does not encompass all situations...

Mud bottoms do not reflect sonar as well as hard or gravel bottoms...

Soft bottoms require a lot higher SI sensitivity setting than hard bottoms...

Yes I have tried adjusting the sensitivity but it doesn't help resolve the dark sceen. I have also adjusted the chart speed and speed and that hasn't helped either. Everyone tells me to try my unit on someone boat who runs the same unit, however I don't know anyone in my area to test it on. My unit is just out of warranty and I hate to think that I have to shell out another $200 for them to take a look at it.

Once it's powered up, hit the power button quickly. A menu will appear that will allow you to adjust brightness and contrast.

You may also want to make sure you have the the SI and the Dual Beam transducer plugged into the correct side of the y cable. You may even want to try to by pass the Y cable and try each transducer plugged directly into the unit on its own.

    Thank you,
    Deborah @Humminbird
