    Default Lowrance or hummingbird?

I just got my first bass boat and the fish finder is broken and needs replaced. I have no experience in using fish finders. I want to get one with side imaging or structure scan. So my question is which would you spend your money on lowrance or hummingbird. Which is most user friendly?

This is usually a good time to go to your local store and have the guy working there show you how the units work and you can see both in action. "user friendly" can mean a lot of thing to a lot of people. With an investment like you are thinking about making, you owe it to yourself to get some hands on time on any unit you are considering. Get a good idea what you want, and dial in the questions from there. Plenty of guys that own the units and answer specific questions, but to as which we would buy will get you plenty of answers, but little actual info. If you want to know specifics about features, additional items that can be added, etc, we can probably help you.

Good answer mduncan62. Everyone who bought these units did it for their own reasons. Either unit will work for you just fine. I don't think one is any harder to use than the other.

I agree with you guys. Both are good products. The features are pretty similar too. I will say the Lowrance base map is a little more detailed. I compared 2 new fishfinders at Bass Pro recently and the Lowrance at least showed contour lines and river channels; the HB didn't. But most people buy a card and get the full information anyway. I have both brands and like them both.
