    Default On board charger choice

I am thinking about buying a Minn Kota MK 315D for the boat's trolling motor batteries. Is there any reason to consider the MK 330D or MK 345D? I realize the smaller one would take all night to charge, but is there any reason one would need more than 5 amps per bank? Thanks.

I personally like 10 amp per. It will charge quick enough but not too quick. The MK's are the best in my lowly opinion. I have the MK220D myself (24v system)
The best investment ive made. WIth the 10 amp if I plug it up the night before--the next morning I am ready to do (thats about 10-12hrs). The 5 amp per would be a bit more gentle on the batteries but would take a bit more time to charge. Good luck--but which ever way you go-if it's the MK you will be happy.

I have one from BPS, 15a three bank, 5 amps per bank. It will recharge my batteries overnight no problem. I bought it in the late 90s and have had no issues with it.

+1 I used than same unit for years. One lead to the starting battery and 1 to each of the TM batterys. I could fish 8-19 hours every day for a week at a time with no problems. Keep in mind the starting battery normally just required toppin off so the 2 TM batteries would wind up getting 7.5 amps each.

I have had a guest 10 amp for 5 years.. It is a great investment. It has easily paid for itself in batteries...

I live in an apartment building that has no outside plugs so i use the stayncharge system. Works great for me. If you're interested in finding out more about them visit their website. They're not a sponsor here so google them.

You will also need an extra bank for the starting battery. Unless you make alot of long runs it is not fully charged. A 10amp would be the best choice. I would advise a dual pro, I have heard too many MK going bad after a couple of years.

Aren't they both Marinco's product? I think Ranger uses Dual Pro. I do agree with you completely though.
