I have the unit in my shop trying to figure out how every thing works before installing on the boat. I bought the Navionics map card and inserted it into unit. It doesn't see it. What's wrong? Thanks for your help.
I would go with what the Lowrance website says .... 3000 waypoints.
Don't know if you know it or not, but I sent you a PM. I've fished WB for many years, but my catch rate has declined over the last several years. That has basically stopped me from making the annual Spring/Fall trips down there. I love the lake, and love fishing it ... but can't justify the extra road time cost vs fishing local lakes, knowing that I can catch good fish around here. That's why I said "we have to talk" .... I'd really appreciate some help in figuring the lake out, all over again. We always tried to hit the lake when the Crappie were likely under/around the docks, but when they weren't ... we struggled. Hollar back at me, if ya can help a brother out !!

ps - I have 100 waypoints for a local lake, and have them in a composition book. They are grouped & named & numbered ... grouped by area of the lake, named by what type of cover they are (pallets/brushpiles/stake beds), but numbered only by how many are in that specific area. In the unit ... they're simply numbered in the order they were entered (1-100). I haven't added any that I've found "on the fly" ... but, when I do, I will add them to the composition book by whatever area of the lake they are in (or closest to). I know in my head where the "areas" are, so when I go to an area I just open the chart page & zoom in close enough to see the area & what waypoints are there. Currently, most all of them are in about 15fow, at Summer Pool. Any I add that are in deeper/shallower water, I will have to add a water depth note in the book. I might take your suggestion and go back & add the 1-100 waypoint numbers to each waypoint description & location. If nothing else, it makes a good back-up system ... should something happen to the information stored in the unit.

Yes I did. Still nothing. With or without the card same thing at the default settings. I was able to load my coordinates via a blank card from the computer to the unit. Still nothing.

I think I may know what the problem is. I noticed on the Navionics map card that it is 16 GB, more than the 2 GB allowed for the Elite 5 DSI. Help, I would like a map card in the unit besides the default map - I fish structure quite a bit and like the 1 foot contours. Any suggestions? Thanks for your help.

Tracker ... here's the listing for what Navionics map chips are compatible with a Elite 5 DSI :

I doubt they'll take it back, from wherever you bought it ... so you'll likely have to try & sell it on the Personal Classifieds Forum (or mention it on your state forum), and try & get most of your money back.

I called Navionics tech support and they said the platinum edition I bought won't work (it has 3D rendering at 16 GB), but the premium edition will (same as the platinum without the 3D, but still has 1 foot contours, etc.). They are shipping me the premium addition to swap out with the platinum edition along with a credit from them. So all is well. Excellent customer service they have.

So I bit the bullet today and ordered my E5-DSI. Should be here around Friday and will start trying to learn it this weekend. I am sure I will reread this thread a few times in the next few weeks. I am sure I will be asking lots of questions since the last unit I used was about 15 years ago and was just a basic entry level as cheap as I could find model. Thanks for a great thread.
I have just had an eye operation (right eye) no lense in it right now and I will be having the lense in left eye removed soon and then both replaced. So I am struggling trying to type. I will get with you as soon as I get squared away with my eyes. It is killing me right now to be missing out on this mild weather and not getting to fish, but I had to do it.
