Does the elite 5 dsi also have the traditional sonar or am I looking at the dsi now ? Sorry just not getting the results yet from the new toy hope to figure it out soon . Thanks for any help Thomas
I haven't figured out how to put lat/long numbers into the unit ... don't even know if you can.
If not, what you could do is get as close to those lat/long numbers, as you can on your chart & then mark/save it as a waypoint. I just found out, the other day, how to zoom in/out on the chart (using the +/- buttons).
Actually found out that the internal map (of a local lake that I fish) .... has contour lines !! OK, so they are only 7ft-27ft-47ft contours Rofl but contour lines, all the same !! I'll have to scope out some of the other lakes I fish, & see if any of them have contour lines.

You can add waypoints with latitude and longitude coordinates but you will have to figure it out yourself because the owner's manual is useless.

Bought my first di a few weeks ago. Do you have to put your card in and out everytime you use it or does it stay in on the elite5. Im all new to this so will be asking more questions im sure. Havnt mounted it yet just been looking at info on here !! Any help in the future will be greatly appreciated . Also do you have to scroll throught all the lakes to find the one you are fishing or does it just recognize your location?
The GPS knows where you are and puts you on the right lake. If you have an update on your micro SD card it will load the update each time you turn the unit on and clear all of your data. You don't need an SD card installed for the unit to work.
Reading between the lines here I suspect I may have a problem. I have 4 or 5 usr files on my SD card which I loaded into the unit. They all appear to be there. Now say I add a few waypoints and want to save them to the card for a backup. What is going to happen? It seems like with the LCX27 I use to have I could only work with one file at a time. I'm thinking now that it let me load them all if I do a save to the card I am going to have duplicate waypoint numbers all in one file. I'll have to try it and see what happens. Also when you did an update on the LCX it automatically deleted the update file from the SD card so I assumed the Elite5 did it that way too. I'll have to check that and delete it if its still there.

According to the Emulator Program, that I have on my computer :
Click Menu button
scroll to "New Waypoint"
click Enter button
scroll to Lat/Long line
click Enter button
use your "up/down/left/right" arrow button to change the numbers in your Latitude & Longitude line, to the new coord numbers
click Enter
scroll to Save button
click Enter button
New waypoint Icon should appear at those coords
I tried it on the Emulator & it worked fine. But, there are prompts that come up, explaining each step, on the Emulator ... not so sure that they come up on the unit. I'll check & see if they do, and get back to ya'll with whatever I find out.
