HB HD DI (dedicated crystals) vs Lowrance SS DI

Now that we have a good thread of people posting pix of HB SI vs Lowrance SI... I think it would also be interesting to have a thread where we can compare the Humminbird HD DI (with dedicated DI crystals) verses the Lowrance Structure Scan DI...

Now my 1197 does not have the dedicated DI crystals so you guys post your pix here so everyone can compare for themselves "real on the water DI images"....

i post some pictures later today using my 597hd/di.it will give me a reason to use the di today, ive got were i dont use the the di any more. for me and the kind od fishing that i do i just dont see any use for it,but youve given me a reason to use it again (pictures)

So the comparison is going to be HDS with LSS-1 VS. HB DI only units? Seems like you’d compare the flagship Vs. flagship?

Mike, I have an 898 HB and my DI is not as clear as CanePole's or Billbob's HDS 7 & HDS 8 DI

However, some folks can't afford a SI unit, so it would be helpful to have a comparison of the HB and Lowrance dedicated DI..

Just my opinion..

Duncan...unfortunately the HB flagships (1198, 1197, 998, 997, 898, 798, 797 -All SI units) do not have dedicated DI crystals..but are merely computer generated images from the SI data....

I hope to create a thread where people can visually see the image clarity comparison of the HB DI "dedicated crystal" units with the Lowrance "dedicated crystal" units....

DI technology seems to be very important to some people in their preferred method of fishing.... so actual image clarity of "dedicated cystal unit" vs "dedicated crystal unit" may help some people decide which unit would work best for them....

Humminbird is rolling dedicated DI into all of the larger screen units for 2012 (11xx, 9xx, 8xx). In fact, the 1158c DI won the "best of show" award in the electronics category at ICAST 2011.

I'm in line for an 1158c DI to replace the 858c I currently run on the bow, and will be happy to contribute screen captures as soon as it arrives.

Jason, do you know if you'll be able to retrofit older models...ie 1197 .... with upgraded transducer /software to use dedicated di crystal ? Not saying I would, but just wondering.
