Just in short are the optima marine batteries worth the extra $$ vs Walmart batteries?? Want them to last long lining for crappie 8 hours a day if need be 3 batteries.

Not in my opinion. The biggest Optima is 155 minute RC, compared to 180 minute for most group 27 batteries and 205-210 minute RC for most group 29 or 31 batteries.

Trojan would probably be the best choice for you. SCS225s if you want a 12V battery.

You'll need to decide how much weight you can accept if you go with golf car batteries. Running capacity and weight go hand in hand. What TM do you have and what voltage does it operate on?

BTW, this discussion should probably be in it's own thread, and I'm going to PM Bill to ask him to split it off.

Grant, I can't remember the name. Send BRM a PM. He sells them at a good price. Ree's Guide also runs them. Like CatFan said weight is a consideration and height.

3 batteries?? Maybe I'm reading this wrong but to get more time for a 24 volt system you would need to add more batteries in pairs and connect them in a series/parallel configuration.
