Onboard charger

I'm in the market to buy a 3-bank onboard battery charger. I've been researching them and there are so many options out there I'm not sure where to start. Do any of you have suggestions on brands to consider. I don't necessarily want a top of the line one, but I also don't want a hunk of junk! Thanks in advance.

I like the dual pro products; I've had others, and I think this is one of the best. I currently have a 4 bank (15 amps each) for a 36 volt system with a starter battery. Leave it plugged in year round; I'm now in my 5th season with these batteries (3 trolling batteries are AGM, starter is a wet-cell) with no problems, fishing 30-40 times a year. I think the only material difference between the Professional and Sportsman series is the number of amps per bank.

I got my first one when my old system (minn kota system, I think) was recalled for safety reasons and they replaced it with a 3 bank Dual Pro. When I got my new boat, that's what I put in and so far, so good.

I installed one of these Bass Pro Shops XPS Intelligent Technology Series On-Board Marine Battery Charger - XPS iT 5/5/5 about 6 years ago and it still works fine. My big Delco Voyager batteries are always ready to go the next morning. Because the starting battery rarely needs much charging it puts 7½ amps to each TM battery.

I use two separate 5/5's for 4 batteries...but they are about 7 years running now ...hooked up year round.....

I like the dual pro chargers,but they are top of the line and expensive.dI have a 3 bank I've had since spring of 98 and it's still going strong without any trouble.I can say I do not like the Schumacher onbooard chargers,I have a 3 bank,because it was about 100 dollars cheaper than dual pro,and I'm on the third one under warranty in less than two years.They exchanged them without any hassle,but I don't know how long they'll continue to do that,I don't remember how long warrenty is.They make excellent chargers for the auto industry but not the marine industry.I don't keep them hooked up full time any more.

Genesis chargers give you a lot of zap for the money with a 3 year warranty, haven't tried one yet because my Guest 3-bank is still charging and it's a 2613 I believe.

picked up one of the Pro Bass Shop's XPSIT 5/5/5 while it was on sale for $ 139 , Got it yesterday , hooked it up temp , that thing is Sweeet ! I'm gonna love it Thanks for the info Barnacle Bill.

Just for you guys info , after the unit charged the batt's I unpluged the unit left it over night , then checked the battery's crank battery was 12.79 and both trolling battery were 12.91 these are walmark batterys ,never seen this high before and I check em all the time with my fluke. crank battery is a 24 . trolling 27 series. all three are over a year old . Not trying to sell anything , just the facts LOL
