actually doug asks if ive tried the new software,he says it address slow navigation problems, and wonders if it will help will slow trolling,so i guess he isn`t actually saying the donut is gone like the other guy,but u would think he would know about what new software addressed

I went out today, didn't have any donut issues with my units. I was sitting right next to shallow docks pulling crappie off them. Did you get out today blueball? And if so, did you have any donut issues? Quik trip had the Hostess donuts on sale, 2 packs for 2 dollars. I couldn't pass it up. Sometimes donuts are really great.

Maybe Doug is just curious (as are we) if the update (with it's vague description) actually helps at all.

I PM'd Doug and asked him to clarify but I don't know how often he checks in here at CC.

We sure could use some more actual experiences with those that have already updated to see what is goin on.

I think we will probably find that the vague description of the update just gives enough verbage for us slow trollers to get our hopes up.

I checked for the issue Saturday when I put in at the boat ramp. I used the trolling motor to ease out of the harbor while letting the big motor warm up. While doing this, I watched the graph and had the circle whenever I was below 0.5 mph

Also, the 898 update did not mention anything about fixing slow navigational problems.

4/12/2011 12:00:00 AM - v5.500 - Corrected phantom tracks issue; Corrected waypoint skipping crashes; Corrected crashes when the Ethernet connection was removed; Corrected communications issues caused when Interlink went offline and correct sonar recording playback issues.

(Don't ask about the date, I only noticed it in my account last week and am pretty sure I've checked since mid-April. )

This was my post on TFF (Page 3: Humminbird or Lowrance???????? - Texas Fishing Forum )

"Did you try the latest software 5.47 it states it has fixes for slow navigation. Humminbird: America

Wondering if this helps your concern with slow trolling???"

I asked a question ??? I don't slow troll like spider rigging so I haven't used but the new update stated enhancements for Slow Navigation

Humminbird Website Support FAQ: Humminbird: America

What changes were included in software version 5.470?

This release affected models: 597ci HD DI and 788ci HD DI

This release includes several miscellaneous fixes not obvious to the user.

It also fixed problems with skipping waypoints.

If you have a 788ci HD DI, it also includes:

Fixes for Interlink issues, including phantom waypoints.

    Added Interlink icons

    New start up icons

    Course over ground fixes

Fixes for problems during navigation at at slow speeds

    Ice Mode fixes

Display custom chart menus if custom chart layer is turned on.

Safety added to downrigger depth alarm for CannonLink users.

    ----

Where do you get "Claiming its fixed" ...sonds like they worked on slow navigation....Thanks for including me in your assumption!

If anyone gets upset while reading posts, you can just choose not to read them. It's easy, I do it whenever I see pics of the HB "made in america" stuff.
