Got any screen snapshots of that Kosmo?
i almost forgot something else.i stopped the boat dead still and lowered down a 1/16 ounce tube jig and watched it go up and down on the 2d and the di.once again i think i think the 2d was easier to see but it worked on both
Got any screen snapshots of that Kosmo?
Greg: I have met several fishermen who have had the same problem (electrical interference) with the new DI humminbirds . Is this an endemic problem with these units. I have never had this problem with my lowerance products. I know this is specific to trolling motors with a varible switch. Also why is the screen stretched out when you go to the split screen (DI/2d)? This view distorts the structure signifigantly. Is there a setting to reduce this distortion? Also is there a setting to get this finder to work in less than 3 feet of water without the digital reading going from 1 foot to 400 feet? There are solid horizontal bars of several layers blue/yellow/red in addition to the incorrect depth readings when in this shallow water. I have been very frustrated with all the issues this unit has been giving me. any help would be appreciated.

badaxed,
What software version is your 587ci HD DI running?
If not the current 5.470 version than download the software and install it.
If that does not help, than try switching the frequency you are using for the 2D sonar.
Adjusting the Surface Clutter also helps sometimes.
The trolling motor interference is more likely to show up in units that use the 455kHz frequency which the new DI units use for both 2D and DI sonar. Depending on how much RF your trolling motor puts off will determine whether you will see it or not. You should contact Humminbird’s Customer Resource folsk if you are experiencing this.
The display gets split vertically when displaying both the 2D and DI sonar so it has the same number of pixels wide (which represents history) but has half the vertical pixels to display both the 2D sonar and the DI sonar. If this looks stretched, than try decreasing the Chart Speed menu setting.
kosmo,
I see in one of the pictures that you were viewing a Sonar Recording. Why not make some Screen Snapshots so everyone can see what is on the display a little clearer?
