Lowrance H2OC Dud!
I've got a Lowrance H2O C that's a real dud, Scaning the internet it seems like I'm not the only one. They have a real problem locking on and staying on satellites. Or maybe they lock on and don't know what to do with the info. Sometimes it will lock on, and then lose lock as soon as you move at any speed. Other times it doesn't want to lock at all. Tried running it with no WAAS, hard reset, soft reset, nothing. Probably just a program error, but Lowrance wants $150 flat rate repair. Judging by the number of complaints I've seen on the net, you would think they would offer a reflash of the program with charging $150! They could offer a cheap reflash, and if it didn't work, then move onto a regular repair.
Will trade for a Humminbird donut unit, I can see where I'm going under .5 MPH :D

Are you using a mapping card? If so, take the card out and try it, see if you get the same results.
I've got a H2O that I haven't had any problems with. I'm more then happy to sell it to you. As far as trading for a HB donut unit, I wasn't aware the HB made handheld gps units? Are you comparing a fishfinder to a handheld GPS? I realize that the H2O is a legacy unit, so I'll give you a good deal on it. $25.00 + 5 shipping. My H2o is at least 4yrs old.

No mapping card in it. It does come with a general map. It will show 6 or 8 satellite bars locked in, but won't give position. Other times it will lock in for awhile and then drop the lock. So is your H2O basically the same as the H2O C, but not color? Will my cigarette plug work in yours? If it works good and has a background map I'll take it for $30.00. If you do paypal. Sounds like you have the require WAAS option checked. I had a buddy that I had to fix his because of that. Of course I had to copy all his waypoints to make sure they were accurate also.
