    Default Decision

I know that with the thread about lowrance customer service that I will have some negative comments, but I'm really torn between the 597HB ci di hd combo and the Lowrance elite 5 dsi. Friday is the day that I'm going to buy something and I just can't make a decision. I currently have lowrance x47's on my boat now. They were on the boat when I purchased it and I've never owned anything else. Can anybody shed some light on this subject that might own one of these units. Thanks in advance.

i know how you feel. I own HB and Lowrance. When I read some of the comments, I feel like both my arms are being pulled out their sockets.

I agree. HB's customer service is better. And the updates are free.

Trust me, you're not the only one debating. Since the HB is just now coming out and the Low hasn't been out all that long, I guess we buy or wait until there's more feedback from users. I know up here, there's not much open to even be able to give them a test run. I'm hoping to make my decision by the first of March. Whatever you go with, get out there and put it to use and give us some feedback!

I was under the impression that the Lowrance updates were free on the down imaging units but not the si units. If not that will play a pretty big part in my decision. One thing that I am looking at is the TM transducer for a HB is $167 and the Lowrance transducer is $65.

I'm pretty sure both come with transducers. Are you looking to mount in two separate locations or buying a spare ducer?
