Alan, the only thing I did not do was to change my transducer setting to 200..I will try this next but I really don't think it will make that much difference..We will see..I did catch 10 fish but found them with a jig on the end of 4# test Gamma line, not a DF...

    Tom,
This would be easier if you could post an image of what you are seeing…
The unit is showing the fish but not as the arches that you would like to see. To show fish as an arch the unit (transducer) and fish have to moving at a speed that would allow them to show as an arch. Try turning up the Chart Speed on your 777c2 unit and/or slow your boat down.

Also try changing the Lower (depth) Range menu to a setting that brings the bottom of the lake closer to the bottom of the display. This will make better use of the available vertical display resolution to display the water column and therefore a better chance of showing the fish as arches. Example: if you are in 42 feet of water the unit may have automatically set the Lower Range to a setting of 60 feet. Set the Lower Range menu to 45 feet.

    Greg,
What little trolling I do, is usually pretty slow. I have got the handbook back out and will change a few things like increase the chart speed, limit my max depth, and set my lower range. Since I don't fish in any water deeper than 50 ft, I was gonna set my max depth to ~~ 75ft, and my lower range ~50ft.
But if I fish in 25-30ft of water do I need to change this lower range to 30? or can I set it to 50 and be ok?

I will take my camera next time and after I change these settings if it continues I will post pics.

Thanks for all the information and time from everyone that has posted tips

If you set your lower range to 50 in 20 ft of water...there will be a lot a "bottom" showing on the screen and less "water column"...

You want to set this lower range to either auto or a few feet deeper than your actual bottom....

Auto will adjust to keep the bottom showing on the screen..but doesn't always give you the most water column showing...

Setting the lower range to a few feet deeper than your actual bottom depth will show the bottom on the lower part of the screen with more water column filling the screen above the bottom...

The only setback to setting the lower range is if you get out into deeper water than your lower range is set...your bottom will not show on the screen...then you have to adjust your lower range setting again...

I keep a SD card with the previous upgrade on it and a separate SD card with the newest upgrade on it...in the boat at all times..you never know when these mini computers are going to screw up with software problems..and the easiest way to overcome a glitch is to load the previous vresion of software and then load the newest version again....

Be sure to "Restore to factory defaults" before and after each time .....

You can download previous versions of your software here...

Also, when loading software versions be sure and follow this procedure...

Okay folks, I went out today not really expecting to do very well since we had a cold front move through last night and the wind blowing bout 12-15kts, but I took the time to tweek my sonar with everyones advice and settings.
    Here are my settings:
    Sensitivity: 12
Chart speed: I ended up leaving it at around 8. Used ultra and 9 didnt see much difference. Maybe will go back to 9 though.
Lower range: 30ft since the deepest water was 28ft
    Beam select: 200/83kHz
    Maximum water depth: 100ft
    83kHz sensitivity:5
Noise filter: low or medium (cant remember)
    Surface Clutter: 1
    Switchfire Max Mode

Here are some pics from today:

The last pic was the roadrunner jig I was using. on bottom bout 22ft deep with sensitivity bout 12 as noted on screen
GREG: My screen looks dramatically different in switchfire max than does DonG's pic or the pics from the hummingbird site. There is no "plankton" or miniature particles to be seen and I KNOW there is stuff below me. I am wondering now if it even upgraded the technology or just added some words to my menu cause it doesnt look that different than before I upgraded. Is there a way to totally reboot the system and then re download the upgrade?
What gives????? Im kinda getting frustrated with it.
