Default I pilot 5 ft radius

I bought a Minn kota 55 lb . . installed the I pilot the first trip out was unbieleavable , but went out one day this past week and was disappointed as I tried to spot lock on , tthe wind maybe 10- 15 mph would move me of the spot 15 -20 ft before the motor would lock on to a spot and then it didn't hold me on the spot . I have a 17ft , aluminum boat . The only thing I wonder about was I was under some power lines and don't know if that effected the response . Hope to hear if anyone else has run into this or has had problems with the spot lock not locking on in a reasonable time ???

could be a lot of reasons, but I would just think the slow response is normal in a strong wind, I fish a verry windy lake and I get blowed off more than the 5ft. norm. but I just set it and forget it, dont pay any attention to the exact location, but them again I am not to pertucliar on stuff. since I have been using the I=piolit I have found I can concerate more on the fising and not so much on where my foot needs to be on keeping me close to the brush pile, I bet you will figure it out and hope it all works out. I kinda like the I=piolit and hope to learn more about it on here, I will hit the power lines and see what it does, but the way my luck goes, wont be an ounce of wind to test your theory.

Mine blows off way more than 5 feet even in a light wind. I like my Terrova but to me they(minnkota) kind of stretched it alittle on what it can do.

I will drift more than 5 feet in windy conditions but with spot lock the i-pilot will adjust the speed of the motor in an attempt to keep you on your spot, but, by the time it makes that speed adjustment you will normally be more than 5 feet off your spot. MK was stretching it with their 5 foot radius statement. Strong winds are tough to handle even when you are manually controlling a trolling motor.

Howferg Im having the same problem. That 5 foot radius turns into a 15 foot radius real quick in the wind.Other than the spotlock and the terrova pedal being so hard to push I LOVE IPILOT.

    Default Truth

I have tried the I-pilot spot Lock many, many times fishing stake beds and in anything more than 10 mph it becomes a 12 foot radius. Still very useful though.

Try getting use to using just the buttons instead of the rocker. there are times that I want to use the foot pedal and I like the buttons the best. You can build up the prop button a little higher than the LR buttons and it works great. I agree with everyone about the 5' circle but still very handy.
    It ain't nuttin but luck.
