    Default .6ft

Here lately my hb 587ci says .6ft when the water is muddy. The water is usually around 4 ft or so because I check it with my paddle. Anyone know what gives?

I don't have this model but:

What your depth offset? What is your frequency? Try turning down the sensitivity in shallow water ?

Some of the sonars don't like dirty shallow water. Mine don't.

I will have to check all of that out. Sometimes it will go from .6 to the right depth and then go right back. Maybe that is why it says fishfinder instead of depthfinder?

No such thing as a fishfinder. That is why they call them fishfinders. haha.

    ab824,
I would star by resetting the menus on the unit to the factory settings. If that does not help than try changing the surface clutter setting. That still does not help; try testing your 587ci on someone else’s boat in the same area. It could be that the transducer is starting to go out in your unit.
