Mark... You should go ahead & cut that shaft down while you have it out.

    Hi all

Just want to say Thanks for this post and all of the contributors who added pictures.
I just added a Humminbird 798 SI transducer to my new Terrova and it worked out very well..
I used Marine Goop every 3" or so in the groove to hold the cable in place. Put it all back together....and....DOH! forgot to put the height adjustment collar back on. 20 minutes later I had it completed the correct way.
    Awesome tutorial and advice!

    Thanks again!

bringing up a good'ole thread on installing a transducer cable on a Terrova i-pilot.
I am not having too much luck with glues (tried 2 so far).
Thinking of using JB Weld to glue the cable to the tm shaft (in the grove)
good or bad idea on the JB Weld idea (too permanent of a glue maybe?) ???

I used some black RTV and it is holding very well. I don't think I would use JB Weld.

I didn't glue mine at all. Instead, I pulled the wire tight and wrapped several turns of electrical tape around the top and bottom of the shaft. 123 trips later, it's still holding.

A word of caution to Terrova owners that have the transducer cable mounted through the shaft groove. If you get in a situation where you have the anchor lock on (such as below a generating dam or open sluice gates with a lot of turbulence). Keep an eye on the trolling motor as it can and WILL rotate 360 degrees and if it does this a few times and your transducer cable is restrained in any way, the cable can be torn or broken. I learned this the hard way today while fishing below a generating dam this morning. The new transducer/cable cost $154.00+ tax and the time to undo the old cable and reroute the new one.

So, having said that, does anyone know if the transducer cable can be repaired. It just looks like the shielding casing and the plastic casing are torn. Maybe a wire is broken inside the casing. I just know I looked at the display and there was picture, just the time, temperature etc, no video.
