    This sucks!!!!!!!

    Obsolete Garmin products cannot be updated via their Web Updater. I tried to udate, but updater said my unit is up to date. I knew this was BS. I called Garmin and they sent me a data card with the updates. Fifty buck deposit then they send a data card so you can update your unit, then return the data card for a refund.

    Aint this some chicken poop...

    So for the cost of mailing you got the update? I've had great customer service from Garmin. I had a problem with my 498 reading the data card. Didn't know if it was the card reader or the card. Sent it in, and when it came back it was fixed, plus they updated it. just cost me to ship it to them. Can't beat that!

    Yep. But I also got a lotta money in a serial adapter cables plus usb converter, which was supposed to allow you to update via internet. I guess I can throw the cable away now. It's only money.

    They do have excellent service.
