Good thought but won't work. Once you get to the end of your big loop and hit the button to follow the track back, it will sharpley turn the boat to follow the big loop on the return. It will not just pick up the straight track as you are alluding to.
I may not be explaining it just right, but think about it for a few minutes and you will see what I am saying.
Found this site that has the i-pilot on sale.
HUGE SALE on Minn Kota i-Pilot GPS Trolling Motor Control System
Seems it would work if you put the end and the start closer together.
Wannabe...
Wannabe...v2.0
A lot like the old Wannabe... except with fewer bad words. And Karate chop action. But, yes, still purtier than you.
Used the I-pilot on Mon and Tues jigging for Striper and Crappie and love it. Used the spot lock most of the time. One thing that I have to figure out is where to set the collar on the shaft to make the trolling motor able to turn the full amount right and left without binding. I was also using an external transducter. When it started to bind (only a couple of times during the 2 days) I would just turn spot lock off, spin the motor and put spot lock back on. Spot lock is great for fishing brush pile and schooling fish.
Thanks,
Scott
Awesome. I'm glad your first experiences were positive, and that you found it to be a useful boat control tool.
I'll be putting mine back to work on Friday. 25 degrees for a forecast high, and the Mississippi River is calling!

Tried my I-Pilot today. Really like the cruise control. It increases and decreases the motor speed automatically to control the boat speed---very smooth. The GPS autopilot also works good. Haven't tried the spot-lock, or the tracks, yet.
