Anyone know if the cord on the Elite-4 will fit in the groove on the terrova?
I had a similar problem with my Minn Kota Terrova shortly after it was installed. The remote just quit working. We found that there was some type lubricant on the battery and where it seats. We wiped it off and have not had a problem in the past couple years. I think I remember the manual stating not to use Panasonic batteries. I bought extra batteries from Battery Plus store for a couple dollars apiece.

Joe, my problem was thus. I had ordered and paid for a 112 Terrova to be mounted on the new boat I had ordered.
Instead an 80# Terrova was installed. The only thing that said 80# was the very small Barcode tag on the TM mounting bracket. So this was wired into a 36V system (for the 112# motor) and it was heating up and shutting down after 20 seconds. You should check to make sure....1. That you have an 80# motor....and ....2. That you only have 24V going to it. If that all checks out, you need to check and see if you have at least 8 Guage wire going from the batteries to the TM.
Check the amperage rating of the circuit breaker between your TM and batteries. Most likely, the TM is drawing more than the breaker allows. I installed a 24v Terrova with only a 40 amp breaker & later replaced that with 50 amp--but that's still not enough when I try to crank it up to 10. Check & see what M-K recommends for its 24v motors.
Since there was no mention of a tripped breaker in the original post, I'm assuming that his motor, like mine, simply shut off without tripping a breaker. Mine never tripped the installed 40 amp breaker, nor the 50 and 60 amp breakers I installed while searching out my problem.
Well, my problem was excess voltage. I'm sure you know if you have three batteries hooked to it or not.
As dumb as it seems, check to make sure you have an 80 lb thrust TM and not one that runs on 12V.
Check the voltage at the TM plug. Your problem sounds just like mine.
Call MinnKota and give them the serial number off of the TM. This is how we found out mine was an 80# and NOT the 112#. There was no lettering on the TM anywhere telling that it was an 80#. When I called the MinnKota rep and gave hm the number off my TM, he said that number goes to an 80# motor, not a 112. Knew then exactly what my problem was, too much juice going to the TM.
