I believe that motor compatibility starts with 2007 motors. Anything more recent than that should work. You can always contact MinnKota customer service with your serial number to confirm that your older model is i-Pilot compatible. Mine is rigged on a 2008 motor.

i-Pilot is compatible with two Riptide models: ST and SP. The ST model will retain foot pedal function with i-Pilot installed (just like Terrova). For Riptide SP, you'll lose the pedal function with i-Pilot installed (just like PD V2).

Do you know how tight of a route you can lay. I mean can I go right at shore and then turn 90 degrees 25' before I hit shore and expect it to make that on it's own next time without turning to late and hitting shore??
Tight turns in small areas will require enough motor power to ensure that wind/waves/current/wakes don't alter the motor's intended path. Most of the turns I make when using track record/playback can be best described as serpentine, and I can follow these paths easily at typical motor speeds of 0.7 - 2 mph.

For example, I recorded the track shown below and then played it back in both directions (end to start then start to end) at speeds between 0.7 and 1 mph. As you can see, the GPS tracks show good consistency.

    Hope that helps!

MinnKota has 5 of their most popular trolling motor models, in a variety of shaft lengths and powers, available this year with pre-rigged i-Pilots. These include a mix of Terrovas (80, 101) and Powerdrive V2s (70, 55). If you want a 12V model, then your only pre-rigged choice is the PDV2. However, installation of an i-Pilot into a Terrova 55 (or any power Terrova, for that matter) is a 5-minute process.

    Howferg,

I could be off base here, but besides wondering why the Terrova 55 doesn't come already rigged with the I-pilot, were you also under the impression you had to buy a Terrova WITH auto pilot? If so, you do NOT have to purchase a Terrova with auto pilot. I just rec'd my Terrova 55 WITHOUT auto pilot, then when my I-Pilot came, I added it and like Jason said, it's a 5 minute job!

    Good luck.

Guys, I didn't check this on my first trip out, however can I utilize the advanced autopilot to maintain a set speed and use the track feature at the same time.

When I went last Sunday, I trolled a bank while recording, used the track back feature (which was fantastic) however when the wind blew hard on a couple of occasions my motor speed was not able to compensate (I had it set on 1.5). I'm thinking if I can set the actual mph with advanced autopilot this would not be a problem.

Neither Autopilot feature (including the advanced, GPS-based system) will record/duplicate your speed. Autopilot deals only with course. You can set your speed manually, or if you want to maintain a specific speed, you can do so using the Cruise Control function.

ok, I'll bite, which one is the cruise control button? Not to sound like an idiot, but I don't like to read directions.

    Thanks,

Mike, you're missing a lot by not reading the directions. Here's some information and photos about the Cruise Control function:
