I am going to get a Minn Kota trolling motor with the I-pilot. I want a Riptide ST because I do some inshore fishing at the coast. Not a lot but the Motorguide I am using now is feeling the effects of the salt. Now does the I pilot work well with the new riptide ST or should I go with the terrova for a better match? I also want to use a foot control with this system. Any help from you guys is appreciated. Also if if I can use the riptide ST does it need to come with the AP function or will the standard CP model work? Thanks again.

Sorry, I started to answer with my LIMITED info since I started messing with this topic weeks ago, and realized A) you asked for Jason (GOOD IDEA!!!!)
B) I don't know that much!
I used my new Terrova/ipilot today it is great I love the remote and after a couple hours I unhooked the foot control and put it away for more room.
There was one problem, I lost signal when it got cloudy with a mist of rain. the clouds where very thick and low, as they moved in the signal would come and go then totally went away.
Has anyone had this problem? anyone know if the signal strength is stronger or if it changes with the seasons?
The positive note is Ky Lake has thawn from the freeze and we caught 26 nice crappie today.
I just got my Ipilot last week and got it installed. The install was no problem at all on a Terrova. I fired it up and did the recommended tests and all seemed ok. The GPS signal was fine even though it was under a roof. I'm excited about getting it on the water.

Thanks Jason, I have been calling a few of the dealers here around central NC but most have no knowledge of the I-pilot feature. I did find one dealer in Charlotte who was helpful and is pricing a Riptide ST80, I-pilot for this unit and a corded foot pedal for me. Please let me know what you find out. I could get out cheaper buying the Terrova but I'm worried about the effects of the salt water on that model. I only make 2-3 trips a year to the coast but it amazes me how salt seems to get into every thing and cause rust. Thanks again for your help. Boyce.

Form reviewing the documentation, it appears that Riptide ST is most like Terrova (pedal still works with i-Pilot) while Riptide SP is most like Powerdrive V2 (pedal no longer functions).
Thanks for the input. I just ordered the Riptide ST 80, I-pilot, and corded foot pedal. Should be here by the end of the week. If so I'll install it this weekend. When I get to use it depends on the weather which has been crap for months now. I'll report after I use it a couple of times. Thanks again for all the input. Boyce.
