    Default HELP!!! Eagle 480 problems

Yeah I know, it's just an Eagle 480, but till I save up or win a tournament, it's what I got:D. Anyway, I get a depth reading and a dull bottom return, but it's not showing any structure or fish. Anyone else ever have this problem? Anyone know how to fix it? Please don't tell me it's another bad transducer. If I buy another, I will have bought the unit twice already with the $$$ I've spent on 'ducers.

    Try a hard reset

    1. Turn unit OFF
    2. Press and hold the ZIN&ZOUT Keys at the same time
    3. Press and hold the PWR key
    4. Release both buttons when the unit beeps

Am I supposed to hold the ZIN, ZOUT and PWR down all together? How long does this typically take so I know if I am doing it right or not.
I just tried it and the unit never beeped. Should I be holding the first two until it beeps THEN holding the power button?

Its been a while since I did one but I believe you hold the ZIN and ZOUT in and while holding them in press and hold the Pwr button in til it beeps. Then release them all.

Thanks IBNFSHN! I used the unit today after doing as you said. Works like brand new. Mine doesn't atually beep when it's reset, but you can actually see the contours start to form on the right side zoom bar when it is reset. I guess it will make it till I can save up for a better unit after all.Again, thanks for the help!

Good info. Thx. I have a 480 and think for the money you cannot go wrong. I'll try to remember the whole hard reset thing in case I ever need to use it.

I'll tell you something I noticed today. My transducer is mounted to the trolling motor. When I would leave the unit turned on while the trolling motor was in stow position to run across the lake, I'd have to reset the FF when I'd deploy the TM again. The good thing is it still worked once I reset it. The bad thing is, I had to reconfigure it to the settings I prefer every time. Still, it put us on fish, which is the whole point.
