I want to make some eggs for salmon fishing. I have the egg sampler from basspro and it works really well but I need it to work better.
I have only used plastisol phthalate free crystal clear plastic. It makes great eggs but it is not quit as strong as I would like it. Salmon are tough fighters and hitters and I want the eggs to have a good chance of staying on the hook. The biggest issue is I would be using full chains of eggs to form a loose cluster and the ones I made tear apart way to easily.
My other issue is the plastic has a very strong scent and I don't really want that. I will be adding egg scent to the eggs but I don't want the plastic scent to deter the fish. Sometimes they will sit and chew on the real thing for a minute and I'm thinking the plastic scent would not have the same effect. I guess it wouldn't be such a big issue if I could find a salmon egg scent to add to them.
Any thoughts?
This is the mold I have:

I would suggest Calhoun, dead on or bait plastic in a medium hard blend. Calhoun has an order but my favorite. Dead on is great too. Bait plastic I haven’t used but hear great stuff about. I would seriously chunk the do it plastisol.
