I have never used Salt you definitely want to keep it away from your metal of any kind like Hooks Anything else of it is metal including aluminum.

There are a host of scents to get you a salty bait. Don't mess with salt as it will ruin everything metal it gets remotely close to.

When I used to make bass baits I used Popcorn salt - very fine grind.

That being said I have never shot a Crappie bait with salt in it.

    Take care

I was thinking of adding salt to the baits when bagging them up, but I’m rethinking it. Now I’m thinking about it. . . I don’t think I’ve ever seen a commercially made salted or salt impregnated crappie bait.

Thank you all for your input.

True that, bass love the stuff but with fine wire hooks like we use for panfish I don't think the manufactures even figured it out. When I fished B.A.S.S. I would cut off the jig an salt craw and pitch it because the rust had already started after a week of fishing.

I could be wrong, but somehow I think someone figured out that by adding salt to the lures the jigs and hooks would rust out and that would force the professional, weekend, beginners, and tournament anglers to purchase more jigs and hooks.
Just sayin.......It is all about the Benjamins.
