    Default Any ideas

Been shooting a solid body jig with 5 leg tail..for some reason lately when i shoot it not all of the body cavaties fill up. Its like i get a big air bubble...my plastic is heated to 345 plus i inject it into mold til i cant shoot anymore due to plastic solidifying in nozzle i keep sprue full doesnt seem to matter if i shoot it fast or at a slower pace. Any ideas on what im doibg wrobg or whats happened?

I am not an expert but double check to see your mold is warm when you inject the soft plastic. A cold mold causes problems. You said your plastic is solidifying in the injector. Also try pre warming your injector by drawing hot plastic into the injector and pushing it back into the pyrex cup. This will heat the injector. Then draw up some more hot plastic and slowly inject your mold until it reaches capacity. Top the sprue off with more hot plastic because the extra will be sucked into the sprue.

What mold? Sounds like mold doesn’t have adequate ventilation.

So many molds on the market not properly vented. The user ends up resorting to less clamp pressure, heating mold, shooting plastic at high heats, shooting faster or slower, standing on one leg while patting head and rubbing belly, etc. It’s plum crazy and will driver the user into crazy land. Lol

Can you post pics of both insides of the mold?

Well its a mold from enforcer and has been pretty easy to use then i started having trouble with it. Tonight i did wipe out the vent ports and didnt tighten the screws any tighter than finger tight seemed to make a lot of difference. Hate to think im going to have to stand on my head too....lol you guys got me thinking about ventilation issues thank you for that...

Aha ha......bingo Yahtzee was it the tube mold? Mine flashed terribly fortunately for me he took it back said it was not his policy to do returns but he agreed got a diffrent mold from him worked fine. Even a do it K grub mold wouldn't fill the tail right took a razor blade scored the vents and it worked but can't clamp tight. Guys if the price is too good to pass up....you might want to anyway. Dr. Nips description Is spot on. You do this much you too will do what the Dr. Describes. I have ,do it ,Jacobs , basstackle ,*********s , lakeside, enforcer's molds. It will drive you crazy. I Only heat the molds in winter I'm in the south doesn't get to cold here, and prefer to shoot a cold mold. I have seen a few of the massive production molds they're water cooled all the time.us little guys have no clue when you see the big boys in action. They're in another universe.

If the mold has been shooting well for you up till now then , something else may have changed because an aluminum mold itself isn't going to change . You can always shoot me an email and I'll do what I can to help you out with this

Have you tried filling the injector 3/4 the way full? Sounds like you’re pushing an air bubble in by not having enough plastic. Also, if you shoot the mold, hold pressure at different counts between 1-5. Get a feel for what it wants. As you lift the nozzle out continue to carefully expel hot plastic into the top of the spur and over fill it. In theory as the bait cools it will draw from the molten plastic over fill rather than air.
