    Default Motor oil

Sometime back we had a discussion about motor oil colorant ended up one
or two companies got the nod mainly for the color change when introduced to water or light . Could y'all refresh my memory? Was it lurecraft? Or someone else? Let me know I'm wanting to incorporate the motor oil in a shad pattern. Thanks LB

MF has one and so does Spike It. I have them both and prefer Spike It's. To get a decent amber under tone with MF's you need to add quite a bit to it and when you do that the green over tone washes out the bait completely. Spike its on the other hand gives you a rich amber undertone and a more subdued green over tone. If you have seen production baits that are the changeable motor oil (amber/green) then there is a very high probability that it is Spike It's (their parent company is a very large supplier in the soft bait industry)

No you really can't get the same effect with a hilite, what you wind up with is an arkansas shiner type colour, nothing like a changeable motor oil. A very cool colour but again nothing like the changeable colour.

Back in the 70's, the motor oil color had a chartreuse green tint to it and they caught fish by the millions. Now, the newer motor oil has a red tint and I've never cared to buy it. Wish the old color would come back in style...

As I posted above both Spike It and MF have a changeable motor oil, they look like fresh 10 w30 with a green overtone in the light (Spike It's in my professional opinion is a far more versatile colour), motor oil from Lure Craft and Do It does not have this effect.

I went on Anglers recommendations this stuff is wild, I took the bait out in the sunlight and the transformation began it went green! I remember back in the 80's at Lake Eufalla Ala. loads of garage bait makers back in the day. One great worm was called a front worm, it was to the best of my memory motor oil with black and gold metal flake in it. It was ugly and dull boy did the fish love it! I'm hoping crappie will too?

I for one will be ordering from one or both we had a large demand for the old motor oil.
