3d eyes
wasn't sure where to post this, so i thought here would be the place since you guys are the ones who suggested and showed me about the usage of them anyway. recently found a video on youtube that is just excellent, on the creation of 3d holographic eyes. the fella has a bit of an accent, but i found it to be manageable. not a computer wizard, so it took me a bit to get the photoshop part with the eye outline done...but finally it is finished and i printed out a test sheet before going to the decal paper with it. they should look great, laid out over the holographic foil. i guess we are gonna find out one way or the other, arent we.
these are 4mm(about an 1/8"). the eyeball outline size is very easily adjustable now from sizes 2-10mm. the link for the video is below the photo, it is a two part video. good luck if you try it, brian

still workin on the 3d eyeball project. i redid the eye, making the outer edge thicker so it has a more prominent outline. beyond that, most of the stuff has come in now to complete them, minus the punches to chop them into singles. hopefully tomorrow they will show up so i can punch em, put the epoxy on the eyes and call it a day

first pic shows the eyes punched and glued to the tops of the nails. second shows them with the epoxy on them, will be dry around 10 tonight.

it definitely isnt cheaper, but they look incredible. i have never bought any from another place or used them before, so i cant say if they look better than others or not...just that these look really good. you are right, it is a bit of work...but its work i only have to really do 1 time. since i dont have to design the eye and figure all that stuff out, dont have to wait for the punches and materials to arrive, etc... now i can just print the decal and punch them out and it wont be stretched out over a long period like this first run.
the first run is always kind of a exercise in semi-organized chaos for me. making sure i have all the materials, and then the actual trial, where you are learning the nuances of whatever it is you are doing. for instance, i used a toothpick to apply the epoxy this time like the guy on the video...dont have anywhere near a uniform size. gonna use a curved tip syringe next time, so i can actually control the flow rate and hopefully get a more uniform final product. brian
