Number one for meis the 1.5" thump it grub. It's an unreal good bait. Number 2 would be the 2" Thumper Fry. #3 would be the 2.5" wit zit stinger.

Welcome from Alabama. Check the stickie on supplies at the top of the forum. Check out each supplier and see what grabs your attention. For me I use the philosophy that big fish eat little fish. I look for molds that are minnow imitators, stingers, or grubs in the 1.5 to 2.0 inch range. The mold has got to catch you before it will catch fish. The most important tool you will ever have is confidence. If you do not believe in the lure you are making then it will just sit on the shelf. Here are my top molds that I personally have confidence in. Again I prefer 1.5 to 2.0 inches for crappie.

Call 1-319-984-6055 and ask for Jerry or Ryan. Ask them to send a catalog. Or you can try going right to the Do It website....Do-it Molds - Fishing lure and jig molds and then click on the soft plastics header. All kinds of goodies to be found there. If you're new to this, do yourself a favor and get the Do It Essential plastic.

They're both excellent colorants, but the X2 is your best value in the long run. To get started maybe the Essential is better as you won't have the extra investment costs that come with the X2 at $9.00/bottle and the Essentialwill before forgiving since it's not as potent as the other. If I were just g eating started in this again I would go the Essential route fir at knowing what I do now. The X2 takes some getting accustomed to, trust me. One drop too much and you can scratch a whole batch of plastic.

The X2 colorants come in a wide range of colors, but there are enough Essential colors to get you off the ground. Go with the Essential stuff to start.

Any of the crappie molds are awesome however I think the Mo Magics are the most "fishy" mold but they are the hardest to shoot. I would start with the carrot molds they are mazing fish catchers and super easy to shoot

walleye, as CTom said the essential series is by far the best. take it from me I bought the kit for essentials and have never looked back. Read thru the dos and donts on this forum. as for x2 colorants it is the only collarant I have used and is great. Also do yourself a favor and purchase the uv blast, a dolup the size of a matchhead does wonders.do as i did and read thru all the posts in this forum and you will get a wealth of knowledge by doing so. do-it molds are the easiest to pour so far in my opinion. Dave
