Red face A Bad Mustard turns out Good

Guys this is one of those unusual situations that will be remembered and had to share it with you.

Had this obsession on acquiring a Vibrant Yellow Bait using X2 Yellow with some .040 Black Glitter, only to have it’s outcome turning a Mustard Yellow, even tried a yellow Chartreuse, having the same outcome

One day looking over my disappointing bait, which I did have a few bites on, but nothing to boast about, (Even though this color has not been a selective one in the Spring Waters I fish), I felt there has to be a way to do something about this color.
So, rather than trying to adjust the Mustard Color I felt Add a little enhancement to it using another color, something that would offset it, but yet be simple.
    My choice was RED.
After nipping a piece off the nose of a 1 ¾” Fry I shot some RED, giving it a different but
    Attention Grabbing look
    .

Neighbor called the next day and asked me along for a short fishing run, commenting: since the weather change, not much happening, even with live bait.
We tossed a few different colors that never got bit, I then started to put on my Mustard Bait, with a snicker and a laugh coming from him commenting: Your not going to try that Goofy Color Again, Are You ?
My comment was: I put some Magic into it this time, and Laughed.
BANG ! hooked a nice Crappie, and caught six more after that with it almost being consecutive casts. His next comment was: You have anymore of those GOOFY MUSTARD BAIT, Now I had to laugh at that one. We were catch and release and lost count on our catch, but have to say we did pretty well.
His comment was: Must Just be a Lucky Day for you, lets go out tomorrow and see what happens

Well, needless to say I was Hot on the Molds that evening using anything from twister tails to finesse worms.

Next Day, on the way out stopped by a single fishermen in a small john boat, asked how the bite was?: Not a Damn Thing,
as my neighbor carried on a conversation I tossed a couple cast only to hook up with Three Nice Slabs. Guy asked Whatcha Using, I just couldn’t help myself from saying The Magic Mustard Bait.
His Reply was: Never heard of them, and where did you buy them?
Said you can’t find them or Buy them in a store yet, but I’ll give you a couple to try out, we then continued on our way where our catches for that day included Perch, Crappie, Bass, even a Small Northern.
On the way back we were passing the Lone Fisherman, having him flag us down, Said he rarely fishes plastic, but this bait Made Him a Believer, how well they work.
So, Looking at the Ol’Timer, I couldn’t help myself gave him a few more, and some extra to pass around to his fishing partner saying The Magic Mustard Bait will be available on Special Custom Bait orders.

In Conclusion Never Underestimate a Bad Color, It may turn out the best one you create.

Thanks to everyone for their input,
and DrNip on his follow Up

    billygee

And of course now when you want to duplicate it it'll turn out as you wanted it to in the first place.

While tying your baits on, keep 'em out of sight of the fish. Congrats on a winning combo. Hope your endeavor pans out to be something special.
