    Question Getting Creative With Plastic

Lately, I have been watching a lot of how-to's on making soft plastics. I recently began to think maybe I could get into this gig and create my own baits. It looks simple enough and rather cost effective. Not only that but it looks like so much fun to come up with all new colors and patterns.

With that said, I've done some looking around and found that Alumilite has a soft plastic starter kit for around 80$ with everything needed to get started.

But this brings up a question or two. Not about the kit but more about what can be used in the plastic itself. But I'd like to get any critiques on the kit if anyone has purchased and used it.

Is there a special type of glitter that can only be used in the soft plastic or can any craft glitter be used?

When making silicone molds from clay masters, does the clay HAVE to be baked and hardened or can the rubber be poured over the wet clay form, with or without mold release?

Can the baked sculpey clay be returned to its moldable state?

Is there a way to reuse already cured silicone?

I know this is a lot of questions but I want to get my ducks in a row before I start making a list of things I'll need to get once I get the money to do it.

I know nothing about the kits but if you're going to make your old molds out of plaster of Paris you To seal them Lotta guys use Elmer's glue glitter you could use crap later but make sure it's not mentality or metal in it and make sure that it can take the heat you can go to quite a few places and by the glitter already made for plastic I wouldn't waste my time trying to make molds I would go to lure craft take a look at their website they have a lot of molds already made and you can buy the greater their the colors and everything else that you are wanting to get started also they have injection molds the injectors and everything for that also there are quite a few more makers out there you want further information send me a PM

I like the thought of creating my own molds and it would be out of the Alumilite silicone rubber. That way I can create molds that can't normally be found. I don't need anything fancy. I just want to make a couple molds out of a few plastic lures I have that I want more colors of. I'm just trying to figure out what I can and can't do or use in and with the soft plastic.

To keep things rewarding, I suggest using a silicone, rtv or your alumilite to create the molds you want. These materials can offer years of life while all the work going into a pop mold can get erased by a simple drop. POP also can develop issues with bubbled/rough surfaces with humidity changes, sealed or not.

Eventually you will want an aluminum mold. You will enjoy them better.
