If you planning on using a Do-It Mold.......the metal is reel soft and easily modified for larger hooks.....my experience but never tried one that big of a hook.
Wanting to make a 1/8 oz and 3/16 pony heads with 3/0 hooks.
Will a 3/0 hook fit into the molds?
Would like to use them for Specks and Redfish #1 hook is just too small.
These would me just for personal use.

Every day you do not fish will be one day less you have to fish
Sorry think I put this in wrong forum! Thought I was back on main one. They do not leave much wiggle room in the molds. I have never tried to modify one before. to get to the hook size I want have to go to 1/4 oz and that sinks like a rock. Which I do not want.
Big B ... you're in the proper forum for this question. You will likely receive more attention/answers, here, than on the Main Message Forum ... since this is where all the jig makers & modifiers hang out !!

The smallest mold in a seahorse I could find was 1/4 oz with a 2/0 hook. Most people fishing specks use to heavy of a jig and it sinks to fast for fish to chase down. On last trip we used 1/16 oz jig head on 4" swimbait. Got this brain storm reading this forum. Want to make a jelly hackle with a small horse head jig with a small gold willow leaf. Think it would be a trout redfish killer,
First and this is me talking I really think Do-It screwed up putting a warming chamber on the bottom of their molds. It really screws up using larger hooks unless you have the warming chamber ground off and until I find someone to do it it will stay.
If you can find the old style Pony Head Assorted mold you can use a 3/0 aberdeen hook, now if you want to use a heavy wire you'd have to enlarge the shank groove. You'll only get the 1/8th oz head with this mold not a 3/16th. The hook is a 2/0 but a 3/0 will fit
Thank you do not really need heavy wire. Just a bigger gap.
Will shoot a couple of emails off to Barlows and Janns see
if I can find one.
The new models don't look like the one in my picture - it's one of the older ones.
I've poured as big as 4/0 in the new 1/4oz mold without any problems,i'll check later to see if a 3/0 will fit my 1/8oz mold.

Bugman do you use JH-6-A mold? Called the stores they all told me bigger hook would not fit but that is really what I expected them to say. Can also use a Matzuo hook and get a little wider gap. Just have to decide which mode to order now
