Yall keep a lot more fish in them than I did though so I’m sure it’s harder keeping 25 or whatever you weigh in than 5 bass.
All that said, I still don’t know what to do about any fish being battered from being sloshed around in rough water rides.[/QUOTE]
Mostly best 7 far as I know, our local club tournaments used to be 10 fish, then went to 7. Far as the battering, I’ve seen the bass guys using pieces of pool noodle cut the length of the livewell, taking up most of the air space between water and lid.
Back when I was fishing tournaments, a guy I fished with a few times was handy with sourcing and rigging stuff off ebay - he put together a rig to pump water out of livewell, through a automotive heater core in a cooler full of ice, back to the livewell. Had a thermal sensor in the livewell, you could adjust a digital readout to cut the pump on and off, maintain a temp.
Maybe we were being too aggressive with our temp goals - but I do remember that it would melt a staggering amount of ice in that cooler. You’d have to have a pontoon ice supply boat follow you around lol
