    Default Condos under construction!

I just got the material cut to make some bamboo condos. I found this older fella with a patch of cane about 20ft wide and a hundred yards long. He said he planted it 21 years ago as a border to keep his neighbors from walking over everytime he started cookin somethin outside!:D

This load is laying on a 20ft trailer and I had to cut two 5ft pieces (10ft) off each one to make it fit.

Some of it was so big I couldn't get my hands around it.

I plan to use the shorter 5ft pieces in a bucket of cement and use the long pieces with limbs with the cinder blocks like described on here.

First time, but I bet it works as good as yall say it does!

Currently accepting applications for occupancy in the condos!!!!!!:D

I use a 5 gal bucket 1/2 full of concrete.... works great.... also put a 2.5 gal jug in the top of each to keep em upright at all times......

If you are going to use the bi boo you need to drill 2 holes in each chamber to get the air out.I would drill one at the bottom and the other at the top of the chambers.

I just dont have water that deep to fish here. Most our water that we catch fish in is 18-20ft at the absolute deepest. 90-100 come from 12ft or less.

Sunk them today. Worked great! One pile I made too huge and could have used that idea with the drill bit YESTERDAY!!!!!!!!:D

It took about 3 minutes to sink to the bottom.

The rest I made with a few less stalks and they sunk like rocks.

Got em marked good and ready to let the occupants move in!

Man those look great!!! I wonder if you can use river cane instead of bamboo. I don't know where any bamboo is, but I've seen some river cane. I've been putting out hardwood brushpiles but I sure would like to put some bamboo or cane out too. Good luck with those.

Basically the same thing, it just doesn't grow nearly as large. A 1" diameter stalk of river cane that is 10 feet tall is some very large stuff where I live. The branches are much more compact, also.

River cane is a north american native plant. For structure, it's much less durable and typlicaly small narrow width. Asian bamboo is very long lasting and has the spreading branches that make crappie structure so attractive to fish. I have acess to 2 kinds, one I call India cane and one called true bamboo. The real bamboo can reach 40' tall and be 5" at the base. It is great for deep water where you can get the bushy part to be 15 to 18' tall. India cane is bushy from 4' to about 12' tall and is best for shallow water.
    I don't fish because I want to, I fish because I HAVE to !

    Moma tried real hard.
