i think that they will work great. they should last a long time.
I'm a newbe to crappie.com and building crappie beds. I have serverl buckets and some cypress lumber. I was wondering if the cypress lumber 1 bys would be OK to use? If they are how long and how wide should they be?
Thanks

Depends where you fish on the highth. We usually use 2' to 4' long boards about 1'' x 2'' , but any size should work.

I made some out of 1x cypress about 3 months ago. Love em! Sunk em in about 11-12ft of water. Made them about 6ft tall. Already catching fish on them and I viewed them on my aqua view to notice they had algea in 2 weeks. Should outlive both of us!
Hi Harold and welcome to Crappie.com!
I have some stakebeds that I made here on Nimrod, that I made out of cypress 2x2's, that are probably 10 years old now and still holding up and producing fish. I got the cypress slabs from the guy there on Sardis Rd. by Arch St. that has the sawmill. He used to let me get them out of the burn pile before they got burned. I used to live out in Sardis before I moved up here to Lake Nimrod.
